“The most rewarding part of my work is when I hear my clients say, ‘We really accomplished a lot today—not only do I feel less stressed out about my life but I also know that I’m going to sleep better tonight.’”

Client Advocate Pamela Hanson joined the team in 2012 in order to professionally pursue her passion for helping older adults. Her volunteer experiences, as well as being caregiver to her 91- year-old father, inspired her to want to help them focus on their strengths. A former account manager for British Airways, Pamela handled contracts for international travel of the top corporate accounts, a position that required high level organization, an ability to prioritize and sharp attention to detail. She has put these skills, along with her ingrained enthusiasm toward life, sense of humor and positive attitude, to good use as a Client Advocate for My Personal Bookkeeper. As she says, “helping people feel better about themselves is very rewarding to me.”

Her background includes:

Education: BA in Psychology and Sociology from George Williams College; specialty training in negotiations (Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University) and event planning

Work: Account Manager at British Airways; Client Advocate at My Personal Bookkeeper since 2012

Volunteer Activities: Teaches classes in the Life Enrichment Program at Norwood Senior Crossing Residence. Also involved in the Old Town School of Folk Music, outreach programs at Unity Church, the Realtors to the Rescue animal shelter and a wide range of community events in Chicago’s Norwood Park neighborhood

Passions: Yoga, kayaking, sewing, reading, gardening, biking and dancing (including swing, ballroom and tap!)

How she makes a difference: : “By being the ‘eyes and ears’ of my clients. This helps them feel empowered and realize that we are working together as a team.”
